Gustave Dore
France's Gustave Dore was the greatest illustrator of his time - perhaps of all times! From 1832 to 1883 he created thousands of illustrations, mostly engravings and etchings for some of the greatest works of mankind - including the Holy Bible. Dore also created a great number of paintings and sculptures. Below are a few selections. While these images can not do justice to the originals (there is just not enough resolution), they offer a glimpse of his genius.
