I guess the only person that understands
my passion for motorcycles is my late father.
Most friends think I am nuts. But, they just don't get it. Are bikers and they Do Get It!
Only riders understand why dogs love to stick their
heads out of car windows!
So, when did I get bit by the motorcycle bug? Or should I say harpooned. I must have been all but 8 years old when I got a minibike. At that age I am still growing so there was a new bike to have fun with all the time. My dad was very generous in regards to 2 wheelers since he rode for quite a while - mainly Harleys. And he fabricated many bikes for the movies and the local gangs. Lot's of stories there!
Anyway, we liked riding in the dessert (yummy) and the numerous motorcycle parks in Southern California. I was never much into Motocross, but rather English Trials. Slow and methodical. I did pretty good in competition.
My first street bike as an adult was a Kawasaki SR 650 4 banger. Midnight blue with a purple undercoat. Full fairing, Blaupunkt radio, and Kerker pipes. I rode that bike for 90,000 miles. In the winter rain, in the summer heat, on Los Angeles Freeways, up and down the coast. I had a ball.
Today, I have a beautiful 1998 748 BiPosto. Red of course, Fast of course, Loud of course. I use it mostly for Trackdays with the Ducati Riders Club. I no longer have the 1999 ST4. Also a beautiful bike. Red naturally. It is an incredible machine. I traded in my Ducati 900 SUPERSPORT.
The Ducati Riders Club is an organization I joined in Dec. The guys I have met were the best. Man, there is nothing like the sound of 8 Ducs racing through the canyons! I had to bring up the read because these guys were fast (they all have track experience). That ride took us from Marina del Rey up the coast to Old Topanga Road up to the Rock Store and down through Latigo Canyon. The best time I have had in a long time. At the track the sound of 15 Ducati at full quack is like a squadron of P-51s.
I can truly say: "I am a proud owner of a Ducati!"

Here I am with my new bike! I went for the 1999 900ss as my dealer gave me a great deal. Thanks to a friend in the Mid-West I now have DucatiPerformance Carbon cans and CPU. |

Meet my mascot - Slow-Poke. He is a little mouse that's going to ride with me everywhere. Usually he's on the Yoke so he doesn't fall off at 140MPH. A friend wants an Iguana mascot and another has a donkey mascot. What do you have? |

A few years before the Kawasaki I had (amongst several other bikes) this Yamaha 250 Enduro. We used to ride Hare and Hound. |
