Photo Gallery - S&M The Way Out West Ride!
June
19th, 2004. Another great ride. I had originally hoped for more riders to
show up but, turned out to be ideal with just four of us. Mae, Gretchen, Robert
and myself. We met up at the store and as we prepared for the ride Katie (my
recently hired salesperson) showed up to open the store. It was neat to see her
before we headed off.
Of course, as usual, we got off to a late start.
LOL. I was secretly worried about the overcast skies and had hope for a sunny
afternoon. Never quite got my wish. PCH to the Cheveron on Sunset for a sip of
petrol and tire air. We were all a bit on the low side. Should have held a
contest for the lowest air pressure! "Ok, all ready to go?" And away we went.
Up Topanga to the Rock Store for some lunch, some
stories and some bike "oggling." Gretchen told us some stories of her
family adventurers in the world of Speedway Motorcycle Racing. Robert recounted
some of the bikes he's owned in the past. Outside folks talked to us about the
Vespas and soon we were off to the North on Mulholland.
Although the weather remained overcast and even
cloudy in some places it was not terribly cold. In fact, some of the most
beautiful views were of the clouds pouring over the tops of the mountains. Not
to forget some of the wildlife; foxes, rabbits, dogs (well, except for one dog
and it's owner), snakes and lizards all of which were quite beautiful.
Anyway, we made a little detour from Neptune's Net
to see the horses I used to visit while living in the area. Gretchen got to know
a pretty chocolate colt - I think he liked her a bit too much..... picture
below.
We stopped at Dietrich's coffee and chatted for a
while then headed on home. Robert pulled off at Topanga to head back to the
valley while we headed back to the store.
It was a great ride. Thank you all very much.
cheers, Victor
