Photo Gallery - Valley Vespastics - Holiday Ride
December 14th, 2003. The inaugural ride of the Valley
Vespastics got off to a wet, slow start, but a ride nonetheless. As the Vespa of
California Holiday sale began Sunday morning, clouds rolled in and the sky
opened up. Half a dozen dedicated scooterists, and even a clown, took vigil in
the Sherman Oaks boutique with hot chocolate, pizza, cookies, and cupcakes to
the sounds of holiday music, while pouring rain kept the streets empty. The
scheduled mid-day departure came and went and the outlook was grim. But just as
the day came to a close, the clouds parted and those who waited it out took to
the road. We rode down Ventura Boulevard to Beverly Glen and up to Mulholland
Drive, some of the best motorcycle terrain in the country. Stopping at several
vantage points along the way, we marveled at how clear the views were, as the
rain seemed to wash away the stale brown air for a few moments. Mulholland
spilled out onto Cahuenga Pass, and it was back down Ventura Boulevard and back
to Sherman Oaks. The Vespastics will return.
