Victor, HELP! My Laptop Power Supply is Not Working!

Ms. S. has a Dell Laptop computer that just died. After talking to her on the phone, we determined the power supply was the culprit. We tried a known good wall socket to be sure and indeed the power supply light did not appear. The cost of a replacement Dell power supply is in the $130.00 range. I said, we could do better. I sent her a link to NexTag whose site listed power supplies ranging from $25 to $70. She ordered her replacement power supply on online for $50.
Sometimes, it helps to have someone like me to trouble shoot a problem and find a reasonable solution.
